Bill Davies is to be commended for his passion in wildfire preparedness in the Lake Almanor Basin. Bill was a key player working with Plumas County Office of Emergency Services in creating a wildfire evacuation plan for the Seneca area. His efforts continued on when he became the leader of the Seneca Firewise Community in 2019 bringing his community together. Under his leadership this small community joined forces to further their wildfire preparation of structures and fuels around their cabins and established relationships with the public agencies as well as the Plumas Fire Safe Council to get fuel reduction projects started around the community. Bill also is a member of the Hamilton Branch East Shore Lake Almanor Firewise group where he shares information and brings people together to learn more about Firewise education and fuel reduction projects in that area. Bill’s knowledge of forestry practices and being such an active resident of the Lake Almanor area has been a tremendous asset to wildfire preparedness in this region – this is further demonstrated by his sound management on his Seneca property. Small rural communities are in dire need of good examples that we can all rally around – Bill Davies is just that example, so, thank you Bill for all you have done for your community for many years as well as your participation in the Plumas Firesafe Council efforts!
