Marty Walters

Marty brings deep experience in community resilience, property risk management, and organizing across public, private, and nonprofit partners. In addition to serving as our program manager for Fire Safe Home Visits, Marty brings her experience in environmental management and strategic planning to the organization. Alongside our dedicated team, Marty’s scope of work is giving the Fire Safe Council new momentum and capacity to lead essential projects across Plumas County.
Marty says, "I’ve lived in Quincy since 2004. I have lots of family and friends all over Plumas County, so we may have met already, or you may have heard me play violin at an event. I volunteer as Chair of our Plumas County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), where we plan and coordinate all the volunteers and non-profits that come together to support the community during disasters.
I’ve spent many years making commercial properties safer and more environmentally friendly, working with some of the largest banks and real estate companies in the world. I’m passionate about strategizing with property owners to spend their maintenance and renovation budget for the biggest impact, combining home hardening with energy and water efficiency for safe and resilient structures. I know a lot about managing when money is tight, help is scarce, and time is flying by."
