Today is the final day to submit public comments on California’s Draft Wildfire and Landscape Resilience Action Plan (2026–2031).

The five-year Action Plan will help guide statewide priorities, funding, and implementation for wildfire resilience, healthy landscapes, and community preparedness.

For rural communities like ours, public participation matters. Large landscape and fuels reduction projects are critical, but so is the work happening at the home, neighborhood, and community level. This is an opportunity to help make sure rural needs, local capacity, and community-based wildfire preparedness are represented as California plans its next five years of wildfire resilience work.

The draft includes issues directly connected to work happening across Plumas County:

• Community wildfire preparedness
• Firewise Communities
• Defensible space and home hardening
• Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs)
• Evacuation planning and access
• Forest health and fuels reduction
• Prescribed and cultural fire
• Workforce and local capacity
• Funding and regional partnerships

Whether you are a homeowner, Firewise volunteer, contractor, community organization, local government, or agency partner, today is the last opportunity to provide input before the public comment period closes.
