Who Will Be Our Next California Insurance Commissioner?

Announcement for a virtual Q&A with candidate Ben Allen about California Insurance, on July 29, 2026, at 3 PM.

For many residents of Plumas County, the cost and availability of homeowners insurance has become one of the biggest challenges to living in wildfire-prone communities. Insurance affects homeowners' ability to recover from disasters, invest in wildfire mitigation, and remain in the communities they call home.

Because insurance is such an important issue for wildfire resilience, the Plumas County Fire Safe Council (PCFSC) is partnering with Plumas County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) to co-host a nonpartisan candidate conversation with those seeking to become California's next Insurance Commissioner.

All qualified candidates have been invited to participate. These informational sessions are intended to help our community hear directly from each candidate about their vision for California's insurance future and how they would address the challenges facing rural, wildfire-prone communities.
