Post-Fire Nature Journaling

Registration
Saturday March 27, 11:00am - 2:00pm

Bring your family and friends to visit a burn area from the North Complex Fire and learn about how you can use art to make sense of how fire affected this landscape. We’ll make drawings to closely observe burn severity, recovery, and regrowth. There will be some guided activities and many opportunities to watch artists and nature journalers Laurie Wigham and Marley Peifer make art showing different ways of seeing and understanding wildfire.

Meet at the Feather River College main parking area.

Bring: Your favorite sketching materials.  This can be as simple as a pencil and a few sheets of paper on a clipboard, plus some way to add color - pencils, watercolor, markers, etc.
Portable stool or chair is a good idea if you don't want to sit on the ground.

Please bring water and a sack lunch.  Boots are recommended.

COVID protocols: A mask is required.  Participants will caravan in personal vehicles to maintain social distancing. All instruction will be outside.

Registration is free.  Donations to the Plumas County Fire Safe Council are greatly appreciated to offset the cost of the workshop.

This workshop is part of the Plumas County Cal-TREX prescribed fire training exchange.  Participants in the public workshop are encouraged to join the TREX participants on Sunday, March 28th, at 2:00pm at Feather River College to share observations and journal entries.
