Safe Winter Burning During a Drought Period

With the current extremely dry conditions, the risk of an escaped burns are high if residents don’t follow the safe practices presented in our slide show.    The forest fuels don’t know that it is winter as they have received no rain and are therefore just as dry as they were this past fall.

Fire Safe Council members want to encourage Plumas County residents that when burning, in these beautiful dry winter days, to do so safely and help reduce smoke impacts in your community.  When residents don’t follow simple rules their fires can either escape threatening others or create smoke conditions that are a nuisance.

Please view this short slide show to learn how to burn smart, safe, courteously and conform to the rules and regulations.
